Congratulations to Silvio Antoniak, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and member of the UNC Blood Research Center and UNC McAllister Heart Institute, in collaboration with Nigel Mackman, Ph.D. & Brandi Reeves, M.D. (UNC Blood Research Center) and Brian Colwell Jensen, M.D. (UNC McAllister Heart Institute), for the receipt of R01 grant from NIH’s NHLBI.
The grant is to investigate the potential therapeutic approach in inhibiting PAR1 to treat chemotherapy-induced heart failure. The funded project has the promise to improve the outcome of chemotherapies and the quality of life of cancer patients. It is a 4-year grant for $2.2 million.
