The UNC Horizons site in Carrboro opened in the spring of 2017 as a state-of-the-art facility for trauma and gender-responsive treatment for women with substance use disorders. Dr. Hendrée Jones, Dr. Elisabeth Johnson and the other members of the leadership team wanted to develop an integrated care model in the facility to allow for easier access to care. The site includes individual and group substance use disorder treatment programs, an integrated OB/GYN clinic and psychiatry services, mother/child therapy services utilizing a special therapeutic playroom/observation room and the UNC Horizons Child Development Center. The building has an elevator and accessible restrooms.
