Dr. Jeffrey Spang was featured on WRAL late last week for a groundbreaking collaboration he has been working on with bioengineers from North Carolina State University. This innovation uses bioprinting technology to crease new tissue from the patient’s own cells. The team have successfully generated meniscus tissue that could one day be used as an alternative treatment for patients with cartilage damage.
Dr. Jeffrey Spang is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is an Orthopaedic Sports Surgeon who provides medical support to student athletes at UNC-Chapel Hill and sees patients in Chapel Hill.
