OREF offers a number of opportunities in 2 grant cycles each year.  RFAs go live in March and November of each year.

  • Sports Medicine Multicenter Research Grant
    • $4000,000 over 2 years
    • Funds proposals focused on the broad areas of sports medicine multicenter research trials
  • OREF Etiology of Hip Osetoarthritis Grant in Honor of William H Harris, MD
    • $250,000 over 2 years
    • Funds investigator-initiated research proposals focused on the etiology of hip OA
  • OREF/AAOS Injectable Orthobiologics Knee OA Research Grant
    • $50,000 over one year
    • Focused on the broad area of injectable orthobiologics for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis
  • OREF Treatment of OA Research Grant funded by the Arthritis Foundation
    • $50,000 over one year
    • Funds proposals that aim to help us better understand how to prevent and treat OA
  • The OREF Impact of Regulatory Policies on the Patient-Physician Relationship Research Grant in Honor of Sigvard Hansen, MD
    • $75,000 over one year
    • Fund proposals that explore the impact of regulatory practices on the patient-physician relationship.
  • Resident Research Project Grant – RD1
    • $5,000 over one year
    • Provides funding to residents who are interested in research.

NCTraCS Pilot Funding Program

The North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NCTraCS) provides a variety of pilot funding opportunities to facilitate the transfer of research findings to clinical practice in order to improve the health of the people of North Carolina. Multiple grant mechanisms are available.
