PRESENTER:

Regina McPherson, MD

TITLE:

“Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis”

BIO:

Dr. Regina McPherson is a current fellow in UNC’s Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship. She was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. She went to undergrad at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) and attended medical school at MUSC in beautiful Charleston, SC. She moved to Mobile, Alabama to complete her residency in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama. She stayed on an additional year at South Alabama to serve as a Chief Resident in the Department of Internal Medicine. During her residency training, Regina became aware of the growing need for palliative care across adult and pediatric care settings, and she is excited to be a part of UNC’s HPM family to expand her knowledge on end-of-life care, symptom management, and communication skills.

Regina got married during residency to her husband, Zach, and they have a beautiful daughter named Isabella. They have a sweet, old rescue dog named Clyde, who loves to catch all of Isabella’s discarded snacks. They are expecting their second daughter next month, and they are excited to stay in the area after fellowship, as Regina will be starting in the fall at UNC’s North Chatham clinic to practice Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Palliative Care!
