On October 11, 2025, Aliese Sarkissian, MD, MBOE and Alice Pan, PharmD, BCPPS represented UNC Pediatrics at the Arthritis Foundation’s JA Family Day, held at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, North Carolina.
This annual event brings together families of children and teens living with juvenile arthritis (JA) and other childhood rheumatic diseases. It offers a unique opportunity for families to connect with healthcare professionals, learn about the latest in pediatric rheumatology, and engage in hands-on activities in a welcoming, science-rich environment.
Dr. Sarkissian and Dr. Pan presented a talk on new and emerging therapies for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), with a focus on the evolving role of biosimilars in pediatric care. Their session provided families with valuable insights into treatment advancements, accessibility, and the future of biologic therapies in managing chronic rheumatic conditions.
UNC Pediatrics is proud to participate in events like JA Family Day that foster education, community, and empowerment for families navigating complex pediatric health challenges.
