Keia R. Sanderson, MD, MSCR, Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, has been elected to the National Council of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology (ASPN).
ASPN is the leading professional organization dedicated to improving the care of children with kidney disease through advocacy, education, and research. Its mission is to promote optimal pediatric kidney health by advancing clinical practice, fostering scientific discovery, and supporting the professional development of pediatric nephrologists nationwide.
In this role, Dr. Sanderson will help guide the Society’s strategic initiatives, policy development, and national advocacy efforts, ensuring continued progress in patient care and professional education. Her election to the National Council reflects her outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing pediatric nephrology.
Dr. Sanderson brings a distinguished record of clinical excellence and academic achievement. She earned her MD from the University of Missouri–Columbia, completed her pediatric residency at the University of South Carolina, and her fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Children’s Mercy Hospital. She later earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from UNC and has served as Medical Director of Pediatric Dialysis since joining UNC.
