Eric Zwemer, MD

Dr. Eric Zwemer, Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hospital Pediatrics, will assume the role of Assistant Director for Faculty Affairs and Advancement within the School of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development, effective January 1, 2026.

Dr. Zwemer currently serves as Associate Program Director for the Pediatrics Residency Program and Associate Chair for Faculty Development in Education. He also directs Junior Faculty Development for Pediatric Hospital Medicine and has held leadership positions within the UNC Academy of Educators, including serving as President from 2021 to 2024. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School, followed by residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center.

In his new role, Dr. Zwemer will contribute to advancing the mission of the Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development, which supports faculty growth through leadership training, career development, and promotion processes. The team focus on initiatives that strengthen faculty advancement, mentorship, and governance, while fostering collaboration across departments and institutional leadership.

Dr. Zwemer brings extensive experience in medical education, faculty development, and leadership, along with a strong commitment to supporting faculty excellence and professional growth. Congratulations!
