Drs. Laura Cannon and Eve Wu were invited to presented at the 2023 Carolinas Fellows Collaborative Winter Symposium. Dr. Cannon’s presentation was entitled, “Pediatric Rheumatology Potpourri” and Dr. Wu presented, “Autoimmunity and Immunodeficiency: Two Sides of the Same Coin”.

Preterm birth is common and increases one’s risk for kidney disease. Keia Sanderson, MD, MSCR, has received an NIH K23 award, supported by the NIDDK, to identify maternal and neonatal risk factors to help predict childhood kidney disease earlier.

Michael Kappelman, MD, MPH, was the lead PI on the clinical trial, which followed nearly 300 children with Crohn’s to evaluate how their conditions changed in response to anti-TNF biologic treatments alone or in combination with a second immune suppressive medication.
