Dr. Smitherman is a physician specializing the field of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Dr. Smitherman is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist, with interests in adolescent and young adult cancer care, survivorship care, treatment-associated late effects and outcome research. In particular, his research focuses on:

  • Characterizing emerging chronic treatment related morbidities and identifying biomarkers predictive of these morbidities through prospective cohort studies.
