About

Dr. Mir is a physician specializing in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Dr. Mir’s research focuses on eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), and investigating new therapeutics used to treat gastrointestinal disease. EoE is an inflammatory disorder in which large numbers of white blood cells, or eosinophils, are found in the tissues of the esophagus. This can lead to vomiting, difficulty swallowing and abdominal pain.

In her work, Dr. Mir has worked with nurse practitioners in the pediatric division of gastroenterology to develop new clinical, diagnostic and treatment pathways for patients with EoE. She frequently collaborates with colleagues in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to participate in translational multi-center studies and clinical trials. Some of these projects have included comparing use of corticosteroids and diet as interventions for patients with EoE, and using quality of life surveys to determine disease severity.
