Dr. Thahir is a Research Instructor in the field of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Thahir’s research focuses on factors that impact vaccine immune responses and strategic implementation of vaccinations in global health settings. He has worked in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Ecology Lab (IDEEL) since 2019 on projects related to Hepatitis B and malaria vaccination of young infants in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and Kenya. His current research is investigating the potential role of co-endemic immunomodulating pathogens on functional malaria immunity elicited by the RTS,S/AS01 vaccine series in young children in Western Kenya.
