We emphasize safe and high-quality patient care and are dedicated to improving patient safety and mitigating risks with proactive risk management strategies. In order for us all to achieve positive and long-lasting healthcare transformations, it is essential we identify gaps between actual and desired care and to develop expertise in quality improvement methods.
The primary goal of the UNC Children’s Clinical Care Portal is to provide a central repository of clinical pathways and guideline documents to decrease practice variation and maximize the quality of care delivered by UNC physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses who care for children across the state. The project began in 2020, with the collaboration of UNC SOM IT and physician champions, Dan Park, MD
, Matt Pizzuto, MD
, and Becky Smith, MD
. As of 2021 pathways are being added to the the site from a variety of areas at UNC that care for children. In the coming weeks and months we hope to include pathways and protocols from all clinically related divisions, units, and centers associated with UNC Children’s.
