All are welcome. From practiced yogis to beginners!
1 hour of Mindful Movement
15 minutes of Seated Meditation (lightly guided seated or lying down meditation)
Mindfulness yoga is practiced as a moving mediation. Attention is placed on not only the end product or the pose but the movement in between poses.
We will gentle stretching and strengthening with the breath incorporating the 7 Intentions of Mindfulness Practice within each class.
All poses will be practiced on the mat. (no standing poses)
This is a great class for winding down in the evening while promoting a restful and calming experience to take you through the night.
Instructor Yoga Bio:
Paula Huffman BS, RN, ERYT, CCE, Mindfulness Instructor, Mindfulness Mentor
Paula started practicing yoga in the mid 70’s. She now has a committed personal yoga and meditation practice that has evolved since that time. She has been an instructor of yoga for 25 years. Combining her life’s work experience in the health care field with her yoga teaching, Paula’s focus is on the healing and restorative aspects of yoga through the development of both physical and spiritual awareness. Her style of teaching encourages a quiet, gentle, reflective approach to asana with the belief that yoga can be adapted to meet student’s needs regardless of any limitations they may be experiencing.
She received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the NC School of Yoga in 2001 and has completed specialty trainings and certifications in Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, Mindfulness Yoga with Frank Jude Boccio, Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers, Yoga Warriors, Perinatal Fitness Instructor with the International Childbirth Education Association, and Level I Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. She has also completed intensive trainings with the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts led by Jon Kabat Zinn and Center Staff and a Mindfulness Mentor certification with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield.
