On June 18–19, 2025, ACCESS Mental Health welcomed ten undergraduate students from local universities to the UNC School of Medicine’s Roper Hall for the inaugural 2025 Psychiatry Careers Pathway Program (PCPP), a two-day immersive experience for undergraduate students to explore psychiatry as a potential career.
Throughout the program, students engaged directly with UNC Psychiatry faculty, residents, medical school students, and MED Program educators. Activities included mock interviews, panel discussions, and candid conversations about the medical school admissions process and different career paths in Psychiatry. The experience provided rich exposure to the various opportunities within Psychiatry, and sessions emphasized the many ways our faculty and residents work to expand access to mental health care for our patients and local communities.
This inaugural PCPP edition was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of the participating Psychiatry faculty, residents, and medical students. We deeply appreciate their time and commitment to inspiring the next generation of psychiatrists!
