We are well into the summer, a nice time to take stock of where we are and look ahead to the new academic year.

There are a lot of updates! The Wake STEP (Schizophrenia Treatment and Evaluation Program) clinic is a year old this summer and we look forward to continued service to our patients in Wake County. Center programs and people are getting media attention and awards – congratulations to Thava Mahadevan on his Citizen’s Award. We have established a Center Advisory Board which brings a breath of experience, expertise and energy to help the Center meet the challenge of providing care and education in a difficult financial environment. There is much to celebrate, and our first “Profiles in Courage” was just that – a celebration of what individual recovery can mean and of the community that makes recovery possible. We welcome Ed Binanay, our new director of Outreach and Community Relations.

Mark your calendars for November 7th for our first Center Gala dinner; it promises to be fun.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
