Earth-based & Body-Centered Practices

This group offers a variety of bodily practices that focus on our many senses to the healing connections with the rest of the natural world. Practices include forest therapy, mandala art and grounding techniques.
Date: Every Tuesday (ongoing)
Time: 2:30 – 4:00pm
Location: In-person, Farm at Penny Lane*
Locations
Groups are currently located at the UNC Farm at Penny Lane (263 Penny Lane, Pittsboro, NC 27312), or as a virtual option when available. Request Zoom link from Matt Ballard. In-person groups located at the UNC Farm at Penny Lane will be held outdoors or in the high tunnel. When it is hot or rainy, groups will meet under the Outdoor Pavilion.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions
Brief symptom screenings and masks will be required for shuttle transportation. Participants will be asked to wear masks when the group is not able to be physically distant.
*Shuttle Transportation
The shuttle is a small blue bus that picks up at the outdoor pavilion in between CVS and Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro. The shuttle departs 20 minutes before the group starts and returns 20 minutes after the group ends. When registering for groups, please note if you will need the shuttle. Brief symptom screenings and masks will be required for shuttle transportation.
Activities
Weekly group-based activities focused around promoting overall health and well-being for adults living with serious mental health conditions who are served by the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. Many groups are open and run throughout the year, unless stated otherwise. Please note those with seasonal start-end dates.
