Become a part of treating the “whole” person.

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, UNC Health celebrates the international day of giving, Giving Tuesday, with a special one day only event called Tar Heal Tuesday.

For the past nine years, nonprofits and charities all over the globe have celebrated Giving Tuesday on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in order to kick off the season of giving. Last year  Tar Heal Tuesday donations helped us raised over $30,000 for CECMH programs dedicated to the wellness of individuals and families who suffer from mental health in our community such as Brushes with Life, UNC PAWS, NCPRC, the NCCP and so many more.

Thank you!

November 30 Match Challenges!

CECMH Advisory Board Chairman Challenge – Board Chair David Pope and his wife Jeannie Pope will match up to $1000 in donations made on November 30th!

“We believe strongly in the UNC CECMH programs for helping individuals, their families, and our communities, as such my wife and I will match up to $1000 during the entire Giving Tuesday / Tarheal Tuesday fundraiser.” – David and Jeannie Pope

CECMH Director Challenge – Center Director John GIlmore, MD will match up to $1000 in donations made on November 30th!

“Since its start in 2009, The Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health has sought to provide whole person care for the individuals we serve so that they can live the fullest life possible.  Much of what it takes to recover from a life changing episode of a mental illness are the intangible things that the current mental health system does not pay for even if someone has insurance – case management, family work, extra clinician time in a crisis or in figuring out how to engage someone in care for their both their psychiatric and medical conditions (such as getting a COVID vaccine), wellness and support groups…; the list is long and I think what makes the Center unique has been our ability to do these things.  Your support over the years has made this possible, and allowed us to make a real difference in the lives of our patients/clients.  I know how important this support is, and that is why I am participating in this match program. “ – John Gilmore, MD

Enhance Brushes with Life Challenge – Board Member Manmohan Sihra will match up to $1000 in donations made on November 30th!

Through the creation of visual art, poetry, film, and music, participants of the Brushes with Life Arts creative arts program find healing and move toward recovery. By connecting with the larger community around their work, they promote a broader understanding of the human side of mental illness.
