Have you ever been at a red light and seen a person who was in need of care?  Well SBBS members have.  We know that the past year was challenging for many families mentally and financially.  In the Durham-Chapel Hill area alone from February 2020-February 2021 approximately 15,400 jobs were lost due to Covid-19.  From this and other realities, we gathered that we must help others especially when we see people from our community struggling. That is why the Social Action andOutreach Committee developed Project Console. This initiative allowed SBBS members to come together for a common goal; to assemble care packages.

The care packages were stuffed with snacks one could carry on the go, water, feminine care products purchased safely and reliably, and personal notes that made each brown paper bag unique in its own way. All of the supplies were collected safely from creditable Amazon distributors and purchased using funds from donations to SBBS. Together, we gathered at Umstead Park in Chapel Hill to make the most out of a cold rainy evening. Together we assembled over 50 care packages that were appropriate for all ages and had fun doing it!

Of course you all know that SBBS loves a good photoshoot. That is why we had Tia Maree photographer and owner of momentsbytiamaree flick us up. Please follow and like her amazing work!  We will be continuing this initiative. We can’t wait to see you at our next Project Console event.
