Thomas Caranasos, M.D., is part of a team of scientists from the UNC School of Medicine and North Carolina State University (NCSU) that developed promising research toward a possible stem cell treatment for lung conditions – including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis — that are often fatal for millions of Americans.
