It is with great pleasure we announce that Xavier Baldwin, MD, General Surgery Resident, received an American College of Surgeons Resident Research Fellowship. Only six residents are chosen for this honor. Congratulations! Dr. Baldwin has received this award with support from his mentor Stephanie Downs-Canner, MD, Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery.
The Resident Research Fellowship is offered by the American College of Surgeons. It is a two-year resident research scholarship. Eligibility for these scholarships is limited to the research projects of residents in surgery or a surgical specialty.
These scholarships are supported by the generosity of Fellows, Chapters, and friends of the College, to encourage residents to pursue careers in academic surgery. The scholarship is $30,000 a year to support the research of the recipient and may be used for salary or stipend, research materials, and travel related to the research. Indirect costs are not paid to the recipient or the recipient’s institution.
