TARC Research Seminar: Dr. Erin Steinbach; “Investigating the Intestinal Epithelial Barrier in Peanut Allergy Pathogenesis”
September 4, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
“Investigating the Intestinal Epithelial Barrier in Peanut Allergy Pathogenesis”
Dr. Erin Steinbach, Post Doctoral Fellow
UNC Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology
Brief Description: Patients with peanut allergy have increased baseline intestinal epithelial permeability compared to non-allergic patients, and baseline intestinal permeability correlates with severity of reaction to peanut ingestion. Dr. Steinbach has characterized a mouse model of peanut allergy showing increased intestinal epithelial permeability and wants to explore what underlies this phenomenon
