Talk Title: Precision Care for Patients with Lower Extremity Musculoskeletal Impairments
Brief Description:
Precision medicine is paramount for accurate diagnosis and effective management of musculoskeletal conditions. Physically active patients who suffer lower extremity injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament tears often elect for surgical reconstruction (ACLR) to restore joint stability. Persistent muscle weakness, altered movement patterns, reduced physical activity levels and accelerated degenerative joint disease leading to osteoarthritis are all common consequences in patients recovering from ACLR. Early recognition and effective management rely on precise and innovative approaches to characterizing and monitoring impairments and developing and implementing targeted therapies. Successful discovery and advancement in this area requires interdisciplinary collaborations leading to programs that align with the patient journeys in our clinical practices.
