UNC CCCR Speakers Series: Dr. Virginia Kraus; “Treatment stratification of patients based on biomarker profile”

October 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

“Treatment Stratification of Patients Based on Biomarker Profile”

Brief Description: Stratified medicine involves the use of biomarkers to differentiate patient populations into subsets (i.e. endotypes) that provide more detailed information about the specific causes of conditions, and predict how patients will respond to a given drug or combination of drugs. The ability to successfully identify different osteoarthritis (OA) endotypes will increase chances of regulatory approval of drugs for OA and ultimately, transform the current empirical medical practice to efficient data-driven individualized therapeutic strategies with lower risk of medical error. This talk will summarize currently proposed OA endotypes and current prospects and implications.

Virginia Kraus, MD, PhD
