UNC School of Medicine

About:

Dr. Smith’s research investigates genetic and genomic mechanisms of susceptibility to airborne toxicants and associated lung diseases (e.g. asthma, COPD). His work combines powerful new systems genetics approaches with in vivo inhalation exposure models for air pollutants such as ozone. Dr. Smith manages the Kelada Lab inhalation exposure facility, which currently provides ozone and e-cigarette aerosol exposures and is actively developing new exposure and respiratory phenotyping capabilities.
