The NC Child Medical Evaluation Program (CMEP) is a state-funded resource for North Carolina’s child welfare agencies when assessing concerns for child maltreatment. A statewide network of qualified providers assist North Carolina child welfare by providing medical evaluations and treatment plans. Since its inception in 1976, CMEP has served as a model for the development of similar programs in other states in efforts to identify, treat, and prevent maltreatment of children.
