UNC Anesthesiology is pleased to recognize Associate Professor of Anesthesiology Andrew “Andy” Lobonc, MD, FASA, as he begins his term serving as the 2026 President of the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists (NCSA). Dr. Lobonc is an established NCSA leader and has previously served as Secretary and Treasurer of the NCSA, as well as a member of multiple NCSA subcommittees.

As NCSA President, Dr. Lobonc’s year-long role will involve oversight of initiatives that address key issues facing anesthesiologists statewide, including quality improvement, workforce development, legislative engagement, and advocacy for anesthesiologist-led patient care — a central focus of the society. His appointment signals a continued emphasis by the NCSA on integrating clinical excellence with leadership in professional advocacy. Dr. Lobonc will additionally serve as a lead advocate for anesthesiology practices statewide, supporting the anesthesiology professionals network across N.C. that connects clinicians with policymaking and anesthesia care CME opportunities.

The North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists is a statewide professional association representing physician anesthesiologists. Its mission includes promoting high-quality, patient-centered anesthetic care, supporting member education, and engaging in health policy initiatives that impact anesthesiology practice in North Carolina.
