UNC Anesthesiology congratulates Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and UNC REX Holly Springs Hospital Medical Director Dr. Ben Antonio for being selected as UNC Anesthesiology’s Division Chief of Community Practice.
Dr. Antonio received his BS from the University of California, Davis, in 1992 and his DO from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. After completing his Anesthesiology Residency at Wake Forest University in 2003 and a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest in 2004, he joined UCSF as a Clinical Assistant Professor (2004–2005), followed by an appointment as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest (2005–2008). He initially joined UNC REX Healthcare (2008–2019) and then returned to Wake Forest as an Assistant Professor from 2019 to 2021.
Since 2021, Dr. Antonio has been a Clinical Associate Professor at UNC, where he has also served as the Medical Director of UNC REX Holly Springs Anesthesiology. As of 2024, he additionally serves on the Medical Executive Committee at UNC REX Healthcare.
