UNC Anesthesiology congratulates Assistant Professor and Medical Director for Pre-Procedure Services at UNC Medical Center Lindsey Gouker, MD, MHA, for being accepted to the Society for Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement (SPAQI)’s 2025 Perioperative Medicine Fellowship Program. Perioperative medicine physicians who are accepted to this program traditionally demonstrate excellence in pre-operative clinic, education, research, and/or healthcare management, leadership in medicine and healthcare, professional involvement, commitment to lifelong learning and to service in future fellowship programs. In June 2024, Dr. Gouker was named Medical Director for Pre-Procedure Services at UNC Medical Center. Dr. Gouker previously served as Anesthesia Services as UNC Health Chatham Hospital, as well as in other peri-operative leadership roles within the department, UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health system.

Physicians in peri-operative medicine nationwide who are accepted to the highly competitive one-year SPAQI Fellowship Program are trained on taking focused approaches on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of perioperative medicine practice. The fellowship year will officially begin at the 20th Annual Perioperative Medicine Summit in Denver on March 5th, 2025.
