Celebration of Harriet Tubman’s Life

March 10, 2022

Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. She’s best known for her connection and contribution to the Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses established in the U.S. during the early to mid-19th century. The Underground Railroad was used by enslaved African Americans to escape into both free states and Canada. After escaping herself, Tubman went on 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people. She later became a scout and spy for the Union Army during the Civil War. On March 10, 1913, Harriett Tubman died, leaving behind a great legacy.
