On Friday, March 20th, UNC Anesthesiology was thrilled to welcome 17 new residents to our residency family on Match Day 2026! This year, our residency program matched its largest incoming class to date — 16 Categorical residents (PGY1 / future CA-1s) and one Reserved resident (PGY2 / CA-1).
Associate Program Director and Professor of Anesthesiology Emily Teeter, MD, FASE, stated: “We couldn’t be more excited with the results! We filled all 17 of our spots with top-caliber applicants!”
Department Chair and Professor of Anesthesiology Ted Sakai, MD, PhD, MHA, FASA, noted: “Match Day 2026 was another very successful year for UNC Anesthesiology! We thank all who supported the process and invested the time and efforts to help us match a terrific class of incoming residents.”
