Best Practices for Teaching Via Direct Observation

Dr. Bray Brown has been involved in resident education at Harnett Health since 2018, initially as the associate program director of the Family Medicine program before assuming the role of program director in 2021, and concurrently serving as Director of Medical Education for all of Harnett graduate medical education since 2020. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by residency training in Family Medicine at VCU-Fairfax Family Medicine Residency Program. She earned a Master of Health Professions Education from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2023. Collaborating with faculty members from across the state and the southeast region, she is actively engaged in establishing a Southeast Hub in partnership with the ACGME, aimed at advancing faculty development in competency-based medical education. Dr. Bray Brown’s professional affiliations include active memberships in the American Academy of Family Physicians and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and contributes significantly at the state level in North Carolina through both the NCAFP and the NCS-ACOFP. Passionate about teaching at undergraduate and graduate medical levels, she finds balance in her personal life through travel and quality time spent with her two children and Bernese Mountain dog.
