During the 2014-2015 academic year, a Capstone team of Master of Public Health (MPH) students at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health conducted formative pilot research for the Weight Management Program. The Capstone team helped Family Medicine Center (FMC) identify the overall vision and goals for the Healthy Weight Program, now the Weight Management Program (WMP), and provided FMC with a roadmap for implementing the program plan to assist patients with their weight management goals.

During the 2015-2016 academic year, a second MPH Capstone team conducted a process evaluation of WMP’s first year, resulting in recommendations for quality improvement. These included recommendations for ensuring future stability and growth by enhancing the program’s delivery, developing program strategy and institutional support, and including additional metrics in future data collection.
