Lauren Donoghue, GMB Graduate Student in Dr. Samir Kelada’s laboratory, has been selected to attend the Leena Peltonen School of Human Genomics program in Switzerland on August 18-22, 2019.

Samir Kelada, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Genetics, has been accepted into the ACCLAIM program for 2019-2020.

Dr. Will Hannah joined the Department of Genetics in July 2019 as a Clinical Assistant Professor.

Will Valdar, PhD has been appointed Director of the UNC Bioinformatics and Computational Biology curriculum, effective July 1, 2019.

Jeremy Purvis, PhD has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with permanent tenure in the Department of Genetics, effective July 1, 2019.

Jonathan S. Berg, MD, PhD has been promoted to the rank of Full Professor in the Departments of Genetics and Medicine, effective July 1, 2019.

Ann Nochlin, Business Manager in the Department of Genetics was named as a Dean’s Performance Award recipient for her support of UNC Faculty.

Dr. Keriayn Smith was awarded a UNC Idea Grant for her project titled “Cyrano: An Oncogene in Neuroblastoma?”.
