
Jon Rosen, PhD, was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective January 15, 2026.
Dr. Rosen earned his BS in Medicinal Chemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1996, an MS in Statistics from University of Iowa in 2011, and a PhD in Bioinformatics from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2022. Dr. Rosen has developed an extensive research program based on his training and expertise. Ongoing projects with which he is involved include: exploration of methodological improvements to current practices for transcriptome-wide association studies; development of methods and tools to support analyses specific to HiChIP and PLAC-seq datasets; conducting imputation and genome wide association study (GWAS) analyses in support of Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) projects; and blood cell GWAS analyses of trans-ethnic meta-analysis of five global populations and the UK Biobank. He will continue to support these programs and will also partner with the Bioinformatics and Analytics Research Collaborative (BARC) in the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
