Dr. Fernando Pardo Manuel de Villena (Professor and Chair, Genetics)

Dr. Fernando Pardo Manuel de Villena (Professor and Chair, Genetics) was awarded Academic Investment Funds from the School of Medicine for his application titled “Pilot program to elevate genetic quality control standards and increase rigor and reproducibility of mouse-based research”.

This pilot proposes to genotype up to 1,000 mouse strains maintained by SOM faculty (with the possibility of expanding to other units) and provide the corresponding labs with MiniMUGA genotypes and reports, as well as a custom Strain GQC Report for each strain.  By elevating rigor and reproducibility, empowering robust replication studies, and facilitating computational extraction of data, this GQC program will support New Approach Methodologies (NAM).
