
Dr. Melissa Haendel (Distinguished Professor, Genetics) is first author on a newly published paper in Science titled “Governing real-world health data as a public utility”.
Additional authors from the Department of Genetics include Drs. Eric Hurwitz, Julie McMurry, Shawn O’Neil, and Anita Walden. The policy paper proposes that “health data should be governed through federated, standards-based, community-driven models that reflect their public benefit, empower patients and communities, and foster public trust and participation.”
