Jon RosenJon Rosen (Assistant Professor of Genetics) et al. publish paper in AJHG titled “Higher eQTL power reveals signals that boost GWAS colocalization”.

Rosen et al. examine how eQTL study sample size affects signal discovery and rates of colocalization with GWAS. The team gathered data from recent eQTL studies and meta-analyses, including AdipoExpress (n~2,200) and INTERVAL (n~4,700). AdipoExpress is a recent adipose eQTL meta-analysis from the Mohlke lab published last year (doi: 10.1038/s41588-024-01982-6). Rosen et al. show that while small sample eQTL studies are often not detecting sufficient signals for colocalization, this is improved substantially with new larger eQTL meta-analyses that demonstrate large boosts in colocalizations with various GWAS traits.
