Dr. Samir Kelada (Associate Professor, Department of Genetics) has been awarded a new R21 grant from the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for his project titled “A New Mouse Model of Severe Asthma”.

Emma Hinkle, 4th year PhD candidate and NIH Predoctoral Fellow (Curriculum in Genetics and Molecular Biology, Giudice lab) published an article titled “Three ways that the field of genetics can be more equitable” on the Genes to Genomes blog sponsored by the Genetics Society of America (GSA).

Dr. Yun Li (Professor, Department of Genetics) is a co-corresponding author with Dr. Hongtu Zu (Professor, Department of Biostatistics) of the paper titled “Transcriptome-wide association analysis of brain structures yields insights into pleiotropy with complex neuropsychiatric traits” that was published on May 17, 2021 in Nature Communications.

Researchers from the Duke Center for Genomic and Computational Biology, UNC’s Department of Genetics, and Yale University have teamed up to narrow down areas of the genome previously marked relevant to schizophrenia risk.

Dr. Hyejung Won (Assistant Professor, Department of Genetics) has been awarded a one-year pilot grant from NC TraCS for her project titled “Chromosomal Disorganization in Down Syndrome”.
