Dr. Xihao Li (Assistant Professor of Genetics & Biostatistics) and Yiyan Zhang (Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Graduate Student in the lab of Yun Li, UNC Genetics) are authors on a newly published manuscript titled “A scalable framework for identifying allelic series from summary statistics”.
The study was led by the insitro Research Team with Yiyan Zhang from UNC BCB Curriculum!
The publication describes COAST-SS, a new framework for identifying genes that exhibit dose–response relationships, where more deleterious variants are linked to higher disease risk. These “allelic series” patterns have guided some of the most successful drug targets, including PCSK9.
