An interdisciplinary group of students from the Department of Allied Health Sciences and the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing is traveling next month to Tyrrell County, North Carolina, for an alternative spring break trip. In Tyrrell County, they plan to work with community partners to provide health and wellness education and activities in the community. Tyrrell County is a sparsely populated area with significant health issues and limited resources. One aspect of this trip involves obtaining needed items, including shoes or books from people in the Chapel Hill area. To achieve this, students have set up boxes in multiple locations on the University campus and in the community. They are accepting gently used shoes or books (at any reading level or shoe size). we would greatly appreciate it!

Bondurant Hall:

- 1st floor, Main entrance (between Columbia Street and Beach Cafeteria – shoe box AND book box
- 2nd floor, by rooms 2020 and 2025 – shoe box AND book box
Carrington Hall (Nursing School Building)
- Ground floor near Room 15 and lounge area.
Student Recreation Center (SRC)
- Main lobby between entrance and exit doors – shoe box AND book box
Rams Head Recreation Center
- Main lobby in front of check-in desk.
Fleet Feet – Carrboro Location – SHOE BOX ONLY
- 310 E Main St #120, Carrboro, NC 27510 (Between Cat’s Cradle and Rise Donuts)
- When you enter the Fleet Feet store, speak to representative and mention that you have shoes for the “Shoes for a Cause for Tyrrell County” donation drive. They should know what you are talking about, and will place your shoes in a box in the back of the store.
