U.S. News & World Report has released its 2024 rankings of top graduate schools, and four programs in the Department of Health Sciences were ranked in the top 5 percent nationwide.

The Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences’ Doctor of Audiology program received a #3 ranking. The program has been ranked as a top 5 program in the nation since 2020. Additionally, the division’s Speech-Language Pathology program ranked #12 out of 280 programs. Both the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology program rankings fall in the top 4 percent of their respective categories.

The Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy jumped to #5 from its previous #10 ranking, which places it in the top 2 percent of OT programs nationwide.

The Division of Physical Therapy’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program continues to extend its reign as a top program in the nation with a #11 ranking. The DPT program’s ranking, 11 of 263 programs, places it in the top 5 percent of programs nationwide.

“I am proud to see our incredible graduate programs receive national recognition for their commitment to our mission of research, teaching and person-centered care,” said Dr. Stephen Hooper, Chair of the Department of Health Sciences and Associate Dean of the School of Medicine. He added, “I would be remiss in not sharing that none of this could have been done without our dedicated faculty, staff, alumni, students, and supporters. It has been a true collective effort to get to this juncture, and I could not be more pleased.”

Last year, two additional programs in the department were included in the national rankings. The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program in the Division of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling was ranked #13 (top 15% of programs nationwide), and the Physician Assistant Studies program was ranked #50 in its first year of eligibility for ranking by the U.S. News & World Report, which falls in the top 24% of Physician Assistant programs in the country.
