CPL Community Programs Specialist Kevin Giff was featured in Chapelboro‘s coverage of the Fairview Youth in Action Program. Giff has helped coordinate the program since its creation in 2019.

The Fairview Youth in Action Program is a paid internship for high school students to address challenges in the Fairview community. Giff and others support the students as they identify issues, analyze the problems, and pursue solutions.

The program was created through a collaboration between Fairview Community Watch, Orange County Habitat for Humanity, and the UNC Food, Fitness and Opportunity Research Collaborative (FFORC). Orange County Habitat for Humanity is a longtime partner of the Community Practice Lab, who supports Habitat’s community engagement efforts in Fairview. The CPL has partnered with FFORC to continue to support Fairview programs, including the Youth in Action Program.
