Admissions Criteria

Interested students will be required to meet the following criteria as a baseline level of academic performance prior to being considered as an SCP applicant.

  • NBME average > 78%
  • No course failures
  • Pass the PCC 1/2 final exam
  • No level 1 or 2 SPC decisions
  • Has not been reported to CoPE for attendance concerns
  • 100% compliant with health & safety requirements (forms, immunizations, etc.) including all administrative deadlines met
  • Complete Student Affairs Leadership Modules
    • Students applying to an SCP do not need to complete the attestation within the modules for a leadership role, but will instead give their attestation to the modules in the SCP application.

Instructions & Policies

When applying you must submit two documents: a minimum 1 page personal statement and resume.  Please adhere to the file name format guidelines below.

Students may only apply to one scholarly concentration during the application period. Students may only participate in one scholarly concentration.

If a student is placed on Academic Monitoring status, per the policy, the student will be asked to cease participation in the SCP.

Participation Policy: CHTP and Scholarly Concentration Programs (SCPs)

  • Students may not participate in both the Community Health Training Program (CHTP) and a Scholarly Concentration Program (SCP) due to overlapping application timelines and curricular commitments. This decision was made in coordination with leadership from both programs to maintain the integrity of each program’s admissions process and ensure timely notification of acceptance to students. Because the CHTP and SCP application cycles occur concurrently, it is not logistically feasible to complete one selection process before beginning the other without compromising core selection criteria and timelines.
  • Exceptions: A small number of students who were admitted to both CHTP and an SCP prior to this policy change will be grandfathered into participation. These students will follow the SCP curriculum corresponding to their new graduation year (typically 2027, if choosing the accelerated CHTP track). For any student whose selected SCP does not have a curriculum available for the adjusted graduation year, accommodations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Personal Statement

Submit a minimum 1 page personal statement that highlights:

  • Your interest in the program.
  • Any prior experience you bring to the scholarly concentration program.
  • The prerequisites you have completed in preparation for the scholarly concentration, if applicable.

***Please review individual SCP webpages for specific requests SCP directors would prefer applicants to include in their personal statements!***

Online Application

No exceptions will be made for late submissions. Applications for all scholarly concentration programs will be distributed to directors for their review; expect follow up communication from them as well as the SCP Coordinator.
