2026 Mayer Honor Society Application

We are pleased to begin accepting applications for induction into the 2026 Eugene S. Mayer Community Service Honor Society.

What is the Mayer Honor Society?

The organization recognizes and promotes community service within our medical school community and beyond by inducting students and preceptors for their service projects and contributions to the community.

How to apply:

Deadline to Apply: Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at 11:59 PM

Why apply:

Inductees are recognized at an induction ceremony and are asked to create a poster highlighting their service during Community Service Day. The induction ceremony will be held in person in the spring – more information to come! Residency programs value this show of honor and commitment to service on applications/CVs and UNC prides its meaning & mission.

Opportunity to apply for additional awards & funding:

  1. Allcott Fellowship
  2. Salber-Phillips Award
  3. Social Justice Service Fellowship Award

Have you participated in service while at UNC School of Medicine? Is service important to you, and would you like to be a part of a society that celebrates service at UNC?

If so, the Eugene S. Mayer Honor Society would like for you to apply for membership! We are an organization of students and mentors with a mission to recognize, promote and celebrate community service within the medical school and in the community.  Every year we recognize new inductees at Community Service Day. As a newly selected member, you would be asked to come and share your community service experience as part of a poster presentation.  Any amount of service can qualify, however, the service must have been completed during medical school.
