What is your clinical expertise?

My clinical and research expertise has been in outpatient general medicine, with an emphasis on screening and prevention, chronic disease management, and quality improvement. I speak Spanish and care for Spanish speaking patients.

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

I primarily do health services research and quality improvement. This includes research projects that I lead and also those I consult and collaborate on.

What current project or initiative at UNC are you involved in that you are excited about?

I am excited about a multi-disciplinary initiative called Supporting Appropriate Implementation of Lung Cancer Screening (SAILS) at UNC. The SAILS initiative aims to develop and test tools and processes for the responsible implementation of lung cancer screening using Low Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT), which was recently recommended by the US Preventive Services Task Force.

What do you love most about Chapel Hill/UNC?

I love that UNC Chapel Hill is a collegial place to work.
