Medicine Grand Rounds, Ron Falk “What Brings You Joy in Academic Medicine?”

Dr. Falk, chair of the department of medicine, has now interviewed nearly every department faculty member, asking three questions:

1. What brings you joy when you come to work?

2. What are the everyday hassles?

3. What can the department do for you? 

In this first Grand Rounds lecture of the year, Dr. Falk will reflect on this process and emphasize the need to be intentional about cultivating joy in academic medicine. He will also recognize the role that an institution must play, providing the scaffolding to ensure that the practice environment is efficient, the culture is nurturing and that all can continue to find meaning in their work.
