Leuk Study

Goal To investigate new methods of activating resting HIV infected cells in the laboratory.
Who is eligible to participate HIV + individuals > 18 years of age; VL < 50; CD4 >300; on ART > 6 months
Procedure Leukapheresis
Duration 2 visits (screening and leukapheresis). Duration is up to 3 years
Compensation Screening visit – $25, Leukapheresis – $150. Travel & parking compensation are offered as well.

Single Blood Draw Study

Goal Obtain blood samples to evaluate normal immune and virologic functions responses as well as to study novel assays in virally suppressed HIV-1 positive person.
Who is eligible to participate HIV+ ; 18-65 years of age; VL< 50; and on ART for 24 months
Procedure Blood draws (up to 200 mL)
Duration 2 visits (screening and blood draw visit).
Compensation Screening visit – $25, Blood draw visit – $50 if you donate < 100 mL, $100 if you donate > 100 mL. Travel & parking compensation are offered as well.

Serial Blood Draw Study

Goal Obtain serial blood samples from suppressed HIV infected participants to determine baseline variability in immune responses and inform what constitutes a significant change in T cell or immune responses following interventions.
Who is eligible to participate HIV+ > 18 years of age; On ART > 24 months
Procedure Blood draws
Duration Up to 3 months with visits scheduled once a week for consecutive four weeks and then once a month for two consecutive months
Compensation $35 each time you donate blood. Travel & parking compensation are offered as well.

The Aging Study

Goal Obtain blood sample to investigate how HIV serostatus and age impacts levels of mitochondrial function in CD8 T cells and CD8 memory phenotype. Secondary objective is to investigate how HIV serostatus and age impact mitochondrial function in CD8 T cells such as the generation of energy to support antigen-driven proliferation.
Who is eligible to participate HIV + & HIV – participants; >18 years of age; HIV + individuals must have VL <50 copies/ml for > 24 months, and CD4 >300
Procedure Blood draws
Duration Up to 2 visits
Compensation Screening visit – $50, Blood draw visit – $100. Travel & parking compensation are offered as well.

HIV Reservoir in Women

Goal To characterize HIV reservoir size, stability, and persistence in women as well as evaluate approaches to disrupt HIV latency in women.
Who is eligible to participate HIV-1 infected women, ≥18 and ≤ 62 years of age, on stable cART with HIV-1 RNA levels < 50 copies/mL for at least 12 months, as measured on standard HIV RNA assays. Eligible participants must have a CD4 cell count ≥ 300
Procedure Leukapheresis procedure and optional sigmoidoscopy procedure
Duration Up to 3 years
Compensation Visits – $50, Leukapheresis – $200, Sigmoidscopy – $300. Travel & parking compensation are offered as well.
