What is your clinical expertise?

I am a pulmonary and critical care physician by training and spend clinical time in the Medical Intensive Care Unit working with Internal Medicine house staff and fellows caring for sick patients.

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

I am a new faculty member in the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. I spend the majority of my time in the laboratory where I study how the lung recovers from injury such as pneumonia. Clinically, I attend in the MICU and in the general pulmonary clinic at Meadowmont.

What current project or initiative at UNC are you involved in that you are excited about?

As an attending in the Medical Intensive Care Unit I am excited about the new ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group initiative our ICU participates in. This project helps focus care by implementing proven methods allowing for better patient care and put them into practice for some of UNC’s sickest patients.

What do you love most about Chapel Hill?

Outside of working at UNC I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife, Clare, and young daughter, Madeleine.
