As Raleigh begins a new order that requires masks be worn in public, Emily Sickbert-Bennett, PhD, MS, associate professor of infectious diseases and director of UNC Medical Center Infection Prevention, reiterated the importance of wearing a mask to curb the possibility of a second wave of infections.

“The mask you choose should be comfortable, should be able to cover your nose and mouth and be as tight-fitting as possible,” Bennett said in a WRAL interview.

With dozens of masks on the market, Sickbert-Bennett, recommended a “surgical type” mask or a fabric mask, if possible.
